About Radiesse® Skin Rejuvenation
Radiesse® is an injectable collagen stimulator made from calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a smooth gel. Used for skin rejuvenation, often called hyperdilute Radiesse, it prompts the skin to produce its own collagen and elastin. As that new collagen develops over the following weeks, the skin becomes firmer, smoother and better supported. Traditional dermal fillers replace lost volume. Radiesse improves the skin’s quality and strength, so results build gradually and look natural rather than overfilled.
How does Radiesse work?
Collagen gives skin its firmness and elasticity, and we produce less of it as we age. This leads to thinner skin, fine lines, and a loss of tone. Radiesse stimulates the fibroblast cells in your skin to make fresh collagen and elastin. Over several weeks, your skin gradually feels firmer and looks smoother, with improvement continuing for months after treatment.
What can Radiesse treat, and is it right for me?
Radiesse skin rejuvenation suits women and men who want to improve skin quality without surgery, particularly where the concern is laxity, crepiness or loss of firmness rather than lost volume. It is commonly used to improve:
- Loose or crepey skin on the neck
- Fine lines and sun damage on the décolletage
- Firmness and texture on the lower face and jawline
- Ageing, thinning skin on the hands
If your main goal is added volume in the cheeks or lips, a traditional dermal filler may suit you better, and Dr Cat will tell you honestly at your consultation if that is the case.
How Radiesse Compares
Radiesse vs Profhilo
Both improve skin quality, but they work differently. Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid treatment focused on hydration and a little collagen stimulation, so it suits dehydrated or dull skin and mild laxity. Radiesse does more for collagen, firmness, and structure, making it the stronger choice for looser or crepey skin and for the neck and chest. You can also use the two together, and Dr Cat will advise what suits your skin at your consultation.
Radiesse vs Dermal Fillers
Traditional dermal fillers replace lost volume and reshape contours, such as fuller cheeks or lips. Radiesse skin rejuvenation does something different. It improves the quality, firmness and strength of the skin itself by stimulating your own collagen. If your goal is healthier, tighter skin rather than added volume, Radiesse is usually the better fit.
