About The Treatment

About Dental Hygiene at Teeth & Face

Plaque and tartar building up on the teeth and gums cause bad breath, bleeding gums and gum disease, which left untreated can lead to tooth loss. Research has also linked gum disease to wider health conditions, including heart disease, respiratory conditions, arthritis and blood sugar control in people with diabetes.

Hygiene treatments matter for obvious reasons: they remove the plaque and tartar built up on your teeth and treat gum disease. But our patients also want teeth that look less stained and brighter, so we have built several stain-removal techniques into our treatments, and we will help you choose the one that suits you.

Our hygienists are experienced and genuinely put patients first. They care about comfortable, high-standard treatment, and they will leave your breath fresher and your mouth feeling great. There really is nothing like the feeling straight after a hygiene appointment.

FAQS

Your Dental Hygiene Questions Answered

Everything you need to know about Dental Hygiene at Teeth & Face. Can't find your answer? Get in touch, and we'll be happy to help.

How often should I have a hygiene appointment?

It depends on your teeth and gums. Many people benefit from a visit every six months, while those prone to build-up or gum problems may be advised to come more often. Your hygienist will recommend the right interval for you.

Which hygiene treatment is right for me?

It depends on how long since your last clean and how much build-up and staining you have. Bronze suits routine maintenance, Silver suits heavier build-up after a longer gap, and Gold focuses on staining for the brightest finish. If you are unsure, book a consultation and we will guide you.

Will a hygiene appointment whiten my teeth?

It removes surface staining, so teeth often look noticeably brighter, but that is different from teeth whitening. Hygiene removes stains on the surface, whereas teeth whitening lightens the natural shade of the teeth. Ask us which suits your goal.

Do I need to be a registered patient to see the hygienist?

No. You are welcome to book a hygiene appointment with us whether or not you see us for general dentistry.

Why is regular teeth cleaning important?

Professional cleaning removes plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing can't reach, which helps prevent gum disease, tooth decay and bad breath. Regular visits also let your hygienist spot early problems before they become bigger, more expensive ones.

How important is your oral health?

Very. Healthy teeth and gums do more than protect your smile, poor oral health has been linked to wider health conditions. Keeping up with hygiene visits and a good home routine is one of the simplest ways to protect both.

How do you maintain good dental hygiene?

Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth daily with floss or interdental brushes, limit sugary food and drink, and see a hygienist regularly. Your hygienist can tailor a routine to your needs.
